Finally! I am so excited to present my new website and blog.
November 2016 marks my 30th anniversary as a pilates teacher! Here’s a quick look back:
In 1981 (36 years ago!), while also a dance student at the Juilliard School in New York City, I began studying pilates with Carola Trier (a protégé of Joseph H Pilates). In 1986, I became an apprentice, and later, an assistant, to my mentors in their upper west-side studio. In 1992, I moved to Marin County, California, opening my own studio in November.
Over the past 24 years, my practice space has seen quite a few changes, reflecting my internal growth process as a teacher and human being. My studio space has run the gamut as well: from a space housed within the Marin Ballet in San Rafael – to a large, busy studio in Mill Valley, which serviced 125 client-hours per week (for over eight years) – to working exclusively one-on-one with clients in a small room in my home – and a few other spaces in between. Bodies Mind® Studio, now on Poplar Street in Tam Junction, MV, is my seventh studio space in Marin. I feel very fortunate to have the support of my wonderful clients and to have maintained this space since 2007—ten years this August!—and I hope we can continue here for years to come. I think of 301 Poplar Street, Suite #8, as my “Goldilocks” studio…not too big, not too small…it feels just right!
As I start my 25th year in professional practice here in Marin, I am committed to continuing to bringing the best in body-mind balance and life transformation education to the public. And now, after so many decades, as our teaching techniques are unparalleled in our field, I am excited to announce our plan to help advance the careers of fellow pilates and other movement professionals through our evolved coursework at Bodies Mind® Academy. You can bet that my clients, colleagues, and I are already looking forward to an epic Studio Anniversary Party in November 2017!
As a Somatic Movement Educator and Pilates Specialist, I am pleased to offer a lovely, safe practice environment and an embracing community in Mill Valley, CA. My mission is to challenge your body-mind awareness and physical development to reach new heights towards health and happiness through movement practice. In short: I want you to become as passionate as I am about the work of Joseph H. Pilates, as an important part of enjoying a happy and healthy life.
Thanks for visiting. I hope to fill this Blog with tips and tools for your unique practice, both at home and in the studio. Please come back soon to keep updated on the offerings here at Bodies Mind®!
Stay Safe & Sound,
