About Our Unique Studio Format

Bodies Mind® offers a unique Open Studio system where our clients advance their movement and exercise practices to self-sufficiency.

Today, this format is a rarity in the field of pilates. It's pilates "practice" - how it used to be - following the philosophical and operational structure of Joseph H. Pilates, and the NY studio of his first protégé, Carola S. Trier (where Carole Amend first began practicing pilates over 36 years ago). As taught by Joe and Carola, each pilates apparatus is part of a system; sessions are designed for each client based on their needs, goals, and desires. Each client practices their individualized progressions, at their own level and pace, in a small group setting, while they observe fellow clients at different stages of practice. This encouraging environment provides the opportunity for clients to learn to adopt a beginner's mind, witnessing their progress, as they are inspired to meet new challenges to further advance their practice towards curiosity, self-reliance, and transformation.

Over the past two and a half decades, the commitment to this way of teaching and learning has produced the evolved cueing techniques that are the basis of our signature Pilates by AIM Mat classes. These cues not only provide safety for every body, they are also essential to obtaining the full benefit of the original pilates apparatus.

Your Commitment is Rewarded

The real fun begins as you take charge of your practice. Under Carole's encouraging guidance, you are given the opportunity to learn about pilates in a way that leads to being self-motivated. You'll be continually inspired to deepen your experience to feel more fit, focused, and healthy in body and in mind. As you become more independent, the benefits of your practice will increase -and- the cost of apparatus sessions decreases - great incentives to give it your all!

We invite you to invest in your Health and Happiness at Bodies Mind® Studio!
